Puente Genil celebrates the 375th anniversary of its Immaculate Conception.

The Pontifical and Royal Brotherhood of the Immaculate Conception celebrates the 375th anniversary of its appointment as Patroness of Puente Genil with a program of activities culminating with the extraordinary procession next Saturday, May 31.

On May 8, 1650, the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary was unanimously proclaimed Patroness of our town.

“From now on and forevermore,” as the original document states, all those present and those who would come in the future obligated themselves to defend her mystery, celebrate her feast day on December 8, and solemnly uphold her honor with public worship and perpetual fervor.

Today, 375 years later, we are “those who will be from now on.”

And like them then, today we renew that sacred vow:

May the Immaculate Conception, Patroness and Perpetual Mayor of Puente Genil, continue to guide her people forever!
